Lesson 62: Comparisons with Adverbs
Where an adverb is used to compare two or more objects, actions or states, suffixes such as "more" and "most" are added to indicate this comparison.
For example:
- For the adverb fast:
He runs fast.
He runs faster than his brother.
He runs the fastest in the team.
- For the adverb slowly:
She walks slowly.
She walks more slowly than her friend.
She walks the most slowly in the group.
- For the adverb happily:
They sing happily.
They sing more happily than before.
They sing the most happily when they're together.
As you can see in these examples, the words "more" and "most" are used to compare adverbs. This gives a more accurate expression of how much of an action or situation is involved.
