Lesson 47: Using Enough with Adjectives and Nouns
The word "enough" is used with an adjective or noun to express that a certain amount or degree is enough.
Use with Adjectives:
"Enough" follows an adjective to express that something has the required level of a certain quality or that a need for that quality has been met.
"She is old enough to drive."
"The coffee is hot enough for me."
"This box isn't big enough to hold all the books." (This box is not big enough to hold all the books.)
Use with nouns
"Enough" can be used with a noun to express that a quantity or number is enough.
Examples:
"Do you have enough money to buy the ticket?"
"We don't have enough time to finish the project."
"There are enough chairs for everyone."
By using "enough" we emphasize that there is an amount or degree of something that will meet requirements or provide a certain level.
