Usage:

1. To Describe a Specific Past Action:

   • It is used to talk about actions that happened at a definite time in the past.
     • Example: "I visited Paris last summer."

2. To Describe Repeated Actions in the Past:

   • It can describe actions that were repeated or habitual in the past.
     • Example: "She always played tennis on Sundays."

3. To Narrate a Past Event:

   • It is used to narrate a sequence of events or a story that happened in the past.
     • Example: "He studied hard and passed the exam."

Structure of Positive Sentences:

• Use the second form of the verb (Past Simple).
  • Example: "She danced at the party."

Structure of Negative Sentences:

• Use "did not" (didn't) + base form of the verb.
  • Example: "He didn't go to the cinema."

Structure of Question Sentences:

• Use "did" + subject + base form of the verb.
  • Example: "Did you finish your homework?"

Irregular Verbs:

• Some verbs have irregular past tense forms.
  • Example: go (went), eat (ate), see (saw), come (came)

Examples:

• Positive: She studied English last night.
• Negative: They didn't travel to Europe last summer.
• Question: Did you meet him yesterday?
