Imperatives are sentence structures used to quickly and effectively request or prohibit an action.

Positive Imperatives:

In positive imperatives, the desired action is stated.

  • "Open the door."
  • "Sit down, please."
  • "Listen carefully."
  • "Eat your vegetables."
  • "Read the book."

Negative Imperatives:

In negative imperatives, the action that is not desired or should be stopped is indicated.

  • "Don't run in the hallway."
  • "Don't speak loudly."
  • "Don't forget your homework."
  • "Don't touch the hot stove."
  • "Don't be late for class."

These imperatives are used to request or prohibit an action clearly and effectively. They are useful for giving quick and efficient instructions in communication.
