The construction "be going to" is used in English to express the future tense and is often used to indicate future actions where there is a plan, intention or prediction.

For example, a plan is expressed, as in "I am going to visit my grandmother next weekend.", or an intention, as in "She is going to start a new job in September."

In some cases, it can also be used to make predictions, for example, "Look at those dark clouds. It's going to rain."

The "be going to" construction provides more precision in specifying future actions and emphasizes that the action will almost certainly happen or that there is an intention.
