May

Might

Maybe

  • Usage: An adverb used to express possibility.
  • Form: Usually placed at the beginning or end of a sentence.
  • Examples:
    • "Maybe it will rain later." 
    • "It will rain later, maybe." 

Can

  • Usage: Used to express ability, permission, or possibility.
  • Form: [Subject] + can + [base form of the verb]
  • Examples:
    • Ability: "She can swim." 
    • Permission: "You can go now." 
    • Possibility (informal): "It can be very hot in July."
  • Usage: Used to express past ability, polite requests, or possibility.

  • Examples:
