Mixed Conditionals
- Usage: Combines different types of conditionals to show how a past condition affects the present or how a present condition affects the past.
- Structure:
- Past Condition / Present Result: If + Past Perfect, would + Base Verb (Present Result)
- Present Condition / Past Result: If + Past Simple, would have + Past Participle (Past Result)
- Example: "If I had studied harder (past), I would have a better job now (present)."
Inverted Conditionals
- Usage: Uses an alternative structure to express conditional sentences, often in formal or literary contexts.
- Structure:
- If is omitted, and auxiliary verbs are used at the beginning of the clause.
- Example (First Conditional): "Should it rain, we will stay indoors."
- Example (Second Conditional): "Were I rich, I would travel the world."
Implied Conditionals
- Usage: Presents conditions without using the explicit "if" but still implies a condition and its result.
- Structure: Often uses words like "unless," "provided," or "as long as" to suggest the condition.
- Example: "You’ll catch a cold unless you wear a jacket."
