1. Zero Conditional

  • Usage: Describes general truths or things that always happen under certain conditions.
  • Structure: If + Present Simple, Present Simple
  • Example: "If you heat water to 100°C, it boils." 

2. First Conditional

  • Usage: Talks about possible future events or situations that are likely to happen.
  • Structure: If + Present Simple, Will + Base Verb
  • Example: "If it rains, we will stay indoors." 

3. Second Conditional

  • Usage: Discusses hypothetical or unlikely situations in the present or future.
  • Structure: If + Past Simple, Would + Base Verb
  • Example: "If I had a million dollars, I would travel the world." 

4. Third Conditional

  • Usage: Refers to past situations that did not happen and their possible outcomes.
  • Structure: If + Past Perfect, Would have + Past Participle
  • Example: "If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam."
