Repeating a Comparative

  • Usage: To emphasize that something is continuously increasing or decreasing.

  • Structure: Comparative + and + Comparative

    Examples:

    • "The weather is getting colder and colder." 
    • "She is becoming more and more confident." 
  • Meaning: It shows that the quality is becoming stronger or more intense over time.

Double Comparatives

  • Usage: To show that as one thing changes, another thing changes in response.

  • Structure: The + Comparative, the + Comparative

    Examples:

    • "The more you study, the better your grades will be." 
    • "The faster you run, the sooner you finish." 
  • Meaning: It indicates a cause-and-effect relationship between two changes.
